AAO invited to prestigious Australia-India Council event in New Delhi
Australian Art Orchestra’s Sandy Evans and Adrian Sherriff have been invited to perform Sacred Cow’s Tail with Mridangam maestro Guru kaaraikkudi Mani and his Sruthi laya ensemble along with B V Balasai (flute), U P Raju (mandolin) and Anirudh Athreya (kanjira). The performance will be at a prestigious Australia-India cultural exchange project launch in New Delhi on 16 March 2012.
The project is in celebration of 20 years of Australia India cross-cultural exchanges. In collaboration with the Australia-India Council (AIC), RMIT is presenting “Daya. On Kindness: Australia India Cultural Exchange”, an exhibition, book and CD launch.
AIC board member Suzanne Davies saw The Chennai Tapes at the Melbourne Recital Centre in October 2011 and thought a performance of Sacred Cow’s Tail would be an ideal complement to the opening celebrations as it perfectly reflects the aims of the AIC.
The AIC was established in 1992 to broaden the relationship between Australia and India by encouraging and supporting contacts and increasing levels of knowledge and understanding between the peoples and institutions of the two countries.
