Australian Improvisation Practicum

The practicum is for all emerging and established professional improvising musicians with an interest in delving into musical language and materials specific to Australian creative and improvised music

A limited backline will be provided; drums, instrument amplifiers, stage piano, vocal PA. Other personal instruments and peripheral items need to be supplied by participants.

The practicum will conclude with a small open rehearsal for AAO peers, collaborators and stakeholders, and invited guests of the participants followed by an optional shared meal concluding the event.

Pre-preparation will not be obligatory, but certain reference materials may be provided in advance by AAO faculty.

The venue is fully-accessible - please notify AAO of any specific access requirements so the venue can be informed in advance.

Tea/coffee/water, and a kitchen with refrigeration is provided.

The AIP will run from 9am to 5pm daily, with exact schedule to follow at a later stage.
Broadly, the day will be structured into three sessions, two practical and one more information-delivery-focussed.

Full attendance of the 3-day practicum is a requirement for all successful applicants.
