The Australian Art Orchestra Creative Music Intensive is an opportunity for adventurous musicians like no other. Originally scheduled to take place in Tarraleah (TAS) in Oct, the eighth annual intensive has been rescheduled to take place at Mt Hotham in December due to COVID border closures.
The ten-day practice-based residency is made up of daily lectures, small ensemble workshops and open group practical sessions bringing together the extraordinary cultural traditions of Arnhem Land and Korea with contemporary art music approaches to improvisation. Several on-site performances will also take place during the course of the intensive.
“The Creative Music Intensive expresses something fundamental about the spirit of the Australian Art Orchestra, it is about sharing ideas, developing friendships and deep musical practice. This will be our 8th edition of the CMI and we are thrilled to continue forging new connections to dive deep into new possibilities.” - Peter Knight, Artistic Director
Joining us for this year’s iteration will be some of Australia’s finest contemporary musicians including percussionist Chloe Kim, vocalist Sunny Kim, composer and instrumentalist Cat Hope, bassist Christopher Hale, guzheng player Mindy Meng Wang, bass clarinetist Aviva Endean, Australian Art Orchestra artistic director, Peter Knight & others to be announced. *
