Expanding Fields of Practice
A Punctum/Australian Art Orchestra Regional Mentored Intensive series

Expanding Fields of Practice is a professional development program for regional musicians, composers, creators and curators. The program has been developed through a partnership between Punctum and Australian Art Orchestra (AAO) to offer a regionally based pathway, mentored by regional industry professionals of renown, with partners and local industry support.

ABOUT:

Expanding Fields of Practice enacts Punctum and AAO’s commitment to the regional development of creative relationships and the harnessing of combined resources to support the development of professional practice and new work. The program is designed to support regionally based early career sound artists and experimental musicians through a program of mentorships, performance, and networking opportunities - providing a safe space for creative experimentation.

Applications for this round have now closed.

2024 Program:

In 2024, two weekend Mentored Intensives at the Engine Room venue in Bendigo will be informed by workshops, gatherings and experiments with and between emerging artists and mentors. Through these two periods of practice exchange and enquiry, we will also identify the limits of support structures for developing a localised practice and seek to address these across the course of the two intensives and through the combined networks of the AAO and punctum.

Zoë Barry, Sofia Carbonara, Aviva Endean, Aryo Hall, Justin Marshall, Gelareh Pour
